Ayurvedic Consultations and Massage

Coming in February...

Ayurvedic Massage
Initial Session:
In your Initial session with Karen, you will fill out a Dosha & Mental Chart questionnaire before you come in. The Ayurvedic consultation and Massage session is customized for each persons Dosha (type) according to their unique constitution of the elements. Earth, Fire, Air & Ether make up our world, including our individual bodies & minds. At the moment of conception, the percentages of these elements are created in a very unique way in each person's body. They are set for a lifetime.  Also, all of the elements present are constantly fluctuating throughout ones life. Different seasons, stages of life, and a persons choices effect all of the elements balance and imbalance, along with the natural cycle of Life: "Creation, Preservation and Destruction"

For your bodywork session:
The carrier oils will be tailored to the clients skin type and needs and will have herbal infusions that help to balance the Vikruti (imbalances). Different types of pressures, strokes and time are spent on certain areas, with the strokes being either stimulating or relaxing during your session.

Some may need an exfoliating technique done with a raw silk glove called: Garshana.
Herbal clays may be applied for 'detox' effects on parts of the body and removed at the end of the session.

Lifestyle sheets will be given for home practices, and oils can be ordered for home self massage (Aghyanga) practice. Herbs may be suggested, and easily obtainable outside of Back In Touch Wellness Center.

Meet your practitioner, Karen Sky Miller
In 1995, i ordered Dr. David Frawley's home study course and then discovered a 'physical' classroom to continue studying In 1997. The classroom:  New England Institute of Ayurveda in Cambridge, MA., was a year long course learning the basics, where Dr. Frawley, Dr. Doulliard, Dr. Lele and many many other great teachers had begun to first teaching in USA. In 2000, I was one of the first students & graduates of the Rishikesh College of Ayurveda, in Rishikesh, India. Since then, I have taught classes pertaining to Bodywork at the Natural Health Institute – streaming from my own experience, I created a version of Ayurvedic Massage that I’ve found to be a balancing experience. Now, in 2012, there are many great teachers now, too many to mention. Most recently, I have learned a lot from Dr. Vasant Lad's books and in 2007, took an excellent Pulse Practicum course at the Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine in NM.

My focus is Bodywork, and practicing more to become a better Lifestyle Counselor –I come from a background as a LMT, for the last 24 yrs. and a teacher at Natural Health Institute in Nashville, TN.

Finding and honoring the subtle nature of the inner & outer aspects of life, equals the clean mobius surface of health. Being out of balance is our gift to bring about deep learning.> (what i learned from my struggle with PAN (polyarteritus nodosa)
