Back In Touch was officially created in 1997 by Susan and Luther Ludwig, LMTs. They purchased/inherited the business from Dennis and Kay Jensen, which had roots in earlier version of the business under the name The Quiet Touch. The Jensens and Ludwigs created a second Back In Touch facility in Brentwood which the Ludwigs managed. The Brentwood center had added complementary therapies to the massage offering, including counseling, reiki, yoga and tai chi. Unfortunately, the Brentwood location closed when the owner declined to renew the lease.
However, Back In Touch continued to operate in a new location on West End Avenue, where we are in operation today. The West End location started with four rooms and a large classroom, where teachers led yoga, tai chi, chi gong, and workshops such as the Alexander Technique and the Painting Journal. The office spaces hosted massage and other services which included acupuncture, hypnotherapy, Reiki, counseling, and nutritional supplements.
Around 2010, LMT and Employee, Erin Baker, purchased Back In Touch from Luther and Susan, and later sold to Practitioner and Intuitive Counselor, Carrie Wilkerson in 2012. During 2016, under Carrie's ownership, Back In Touch expanded once again, opening a wall into a second wing of offices, doubling the center's capacity for practitioners. This allowed different practitioners to join the center, and developing more and diverse offerings to bring clients well-rounded options for holistic wellness.
Today, Carrie Wilkerson continues as the owner of Back In Touch Wellness Center. The center now hosts over 20 different practitioners in addition to the massage therapy with which it began. The center has also added in a variety of retail items such as books, essential oils, holistic local products, spiritual tools, and supplements to the lobby for clients to have easy, accessible options available.
